The beauty of Italy will never cease to amaze me, there are places where magic meets reality.
Places surrounded by 360 degrees of perfection, the sound of peace that relaxes the soul.
Have you ever slept in an ancient castle?
It happened to me a few weeks ago in one of the most charming hotels in which I have ever been: Castello di Velona, Resort Thermal Spa and Winery.
For a long time now I had the slightest idea that I could spend a few nights in a castle of origins that are lost in history, so on my return from the Cosmoprof of Bologna my sister and I decided to “break” the long journey in the car and enjoy a few days of total relaxation.
We arrive at night in Val d’Orcia, near Montalcino, open the gates of a secret realm in front of us.
A lonely bunny crossed the road, I knew from that moment that I would breathe nature.
Above us a starry sky of the rare ones to meet, full of bright dots.
We enter, welcomed by the kind staff, from the old portal of the castle and head to our suite: the Sunset.
Our room has a pool (almost a swimming pool) inside it, where you can start relaxing with volcanic water coming directly from the spring.
The Velona Castle, built in the 9th century as a medieval fortress along Via Clodia, was renovated in 1997 to be a paradise on earth.
The resort has a thermal spa with indoor and outdoor heated pools, a swim in the hot waters with the view of the Val d’Orcia at 360 degrees is really an unmistakable moment.
The sunset falls with the most beautiful shades of pink and blue and the stars light up in the sky.
It’s time to enjoy our Tuscan dinner in one of the 3 dining options of the structure: the Velona Lounge. Probably the cuisine of this region is my absolute favorite!
Local cured meats, truffle dumplings, tomato sauce, and chicas local pasta accompany the notes of an evening that can be remembered.
A toast with a glass of wine produced directly by the castle farm and away to see the bright dots in the cobalt mantle above us.
Although the will is to stay as much as possible to savor the atmosphere of the castle, HERE you can find my post on the unmissable places of the Val d’Orcia.
