First day in Holland

Vi scrivo da una di quelle mattine soleggiate che riescono anche a scaldare le ossa e il cuore.

In direzione Firenze per scoprire da vicino la collezione di Molly Bracken.

Ma oggi voglio raccontarvi un’altra storia, quella del mio primo giorno in Olanda.

Ho deciso di far partire il viaggio visitando una piccola cittadina a metà tra Amsterdam e Rotterdam, si tratta di Leiden.

Non sapevo che mi avrebbe stupida molto più di Amsterdam.

Camminando tra le piccole vie, tra un canale e un altro si possono scorgere gli antichi mulini, un tempo grande risorsa.

Ho avuto modo di visitarne uno all’interno e apprezzare le antiche modalità di funzionamento e l’arredamento di chi ci viveva effettivamente.

Un breve e tipico pranzo olandese per poi spostarci sul mare a Noordwijik, qui abbiamo ammirato il sole tramontare sulle lunghe spiagge del Mar del Nord, veramente suggestivo.

Il freddo è veramente pungente per cui ne abbiamo approfittato per bere un bicchiere di vino caldo in uno luogo che per me è stata una sorpresa.

Gli abitanti del posto chiamano i ristoranti che sorgono sulla spiaggia: Beach house, e una volta entrata ho potuto ben capir perchè.

L’ambiente è super accogliente e caldo, tra candele che brillano in ogni angolo, conchiglie ed alberi di Natale.

Una tipica cena olandese, tante risate e cibo per concludere una perfetta giornata.

Towards Florence to discover closely the new collection of Molly Bracken.

But today I want to tell you another story, one of my first day in the Netherlands.

I decided to start the trip by visiting a small town halfway between Amsterdam and Rotterdam, it is called Leiden.

I did not know that I would like it much more then Amsterdam.

Walking through the narrow streets, between one canal and the another one you can see the old mills, once a great resource.

I had the opportunity to visit one inside and appreciate the ancient mode of operation and the furniture of those who actually lived there.

A short and typical Dutch lunch and then move on to the sea to Noordwijik, here we admired the sunset from the beaches of the North Sea, really impressive.

The cold is really biting so we took the opportunity to drink a glass of mulled wine in a place that for me it was a surprise.

Locals people call the restaurants that are located on the beach: Beach house, and after entering I could well understand why.

The atmosphere is super cozy and warm, between candles that shine in every corner, shells and Christmas trees.

A typical Dutch dinner, lots of laughter and food to end a perfect day.
