#WhereToGo: Pitigliano (Toscana)

Vi ho già detto che amo la Toscana vero?!

La scorsa settimana ho visitato Pitgliano, uno di quei luoghi da vedere almeno una volta nella vita.

Una città di origine etrusca, la città scavata nel tufo, anche detta la Piccola Gerusalemme per la forte presenza ebraica ormai radicata da tempo.

Il borgo, uno dei più belli d’Italia si gira in modo veramente piacevole, perdendosi tra i vicoli del centro storico.

L’atmosfera è quasi surreale, sono rimasta stupita dal modo in cui gli abitanti del luogo cerchino di renderlo il più autentico possibile.

All’interno della zona più antica non ho visto circolare che vespe, apette e le vecchie Cinquecento, piccoli sprazzi di colore tra le case rigorosamente in tufo.

La Fortezza ed il Palazzo Orsini, la Fontana delle Sette Cannelle, gli antichi acquedotti, si possono ammirare lungo il percorso. Non servono piantine o google maps, basta spalancare gli occhi e riempirli di colori e profumi.

Viste mozzafiato trovandosi al perimetro della città, arroccata su uno sperone di tufo.

I signori anziani a chiacchierare in piazza o semplicemente ad ammirare il panorama, rimanendo in silenzio.

Il rumore dei piatti dalle porte aperte, come si faceva un tempo, dicono; il profumo della pappa al pomodoro che aleggia nell’aria.

Il mistero che aleggia intorno alle vie cave, ma che sfortunatamente non sono riuscita a visitare, scavate dagli etruschi nel tufo. Tunnel tra pareti alte due metri, lunghi anche chilometri di cui la nascita è ancora dubbia.

Forse percorsi sacri, forse vie di comunicazioni.

Last week I visited Pitgliano, one of those places to see at least once in a lifetime.
A city of Etruscan origin, the city carved into the tufa, also called the Little Jerusalem because of the strong Jewish presence now established from a long time.
The village, one of the most beautiful in Italy turns up really nice, getting lost in the narrow streets of the old town.
The atmosphere is almost surreal, I was amazed by the way the locals try to make it as authentic as possible.
In the oldest part I saw only circular wasps, apette and old Cinquecento, small splashes of color among the houses strictly in tuff.
The fortress and the Palazzo Orsini, the Fountain of the Seven Spouts and the ancient aqueducts, can be admired along the way. No need for seedlings or google maps, just open your eyes and fill them with colors and scents.
Breathtaking views being at the perimeter of the city, perched on a spur of tuff.
The older gentlemen chatting in the square or simply to admire the view, in quite.
The noise of the dishes from the open doors, like in the old days, they say; the scent of tomato soup wafting in the air.
The mystery that hovers around the streets quarries, that unfortunately I could not visit, excavated by the Etruscans in the tuff. Tunnel between walls two meters high,  long kilometers with a doubtful birth.
Perhaps sacred paths, perhaps communication routes.
