Santorini. Travel tips #2

Secondo post dal paradiso. Secondo giorno a Santorini.

Dopo una lunga dormita rigenerante abbiamo scelto il programma della giornata.

Spiaggia- dove vedere il tramonto – dove cenare e trascorrere il dopo cena, questa è stata la mia routine sull’isola.

Abbiamo optato per una delle spiagge nere : Perivolos, collocata nella zona Sud dell’isola.

Rispetto alla simile Kamari è un ambiente più tranquillo e rilassato. Anche qui consiglio ombrellone e lettino.

Ogni ristorante lungo la spiaggia ha il proprio stabilimento con wifi e possibilità di mangiare direttamente nella propria postazione sulla sabbia.

Noi abbiamo preferito sederci proprio al ristorante, una tipica taverna greca chiamata: To Kaboypakia e sperimentare qualche specialità locale immersi nel blu.

Relax completo sotto l’ombrellone di paglia, un vento leggero che non far sentire il sole scottante, non ho mai sentito caldo a Santorini.

Per ammirare il tramonto e cenare abbiamo, invece, optato per la Capitale: Fira.

Lascio che siano le immagini a parlare perchè non c’è molto d’aggiungere. Qualche scatto lungo la caldera e all’improvviso sento un tintinnio; mi giro ed eccoli qui i famosi asinelli dell’isola.

Dopo una lunga giornata sotto il sole e di lavoro pesante ( forse anche troppo), vengono fatti risalire per il meritato riposo nelle loro “case”.

Ma quale è il loro lavoro nello specifico?

A Santorini tutti i centri abitati sono collocati nella parte alta della scogliera, per cui tra il porto e la città c’è un notevole dislivello. A Fira si parla di 250 metri.

Se siete sull’isola probabilmente vi capiterà di voler far un’escursione nella caldera, per cui sicuramente dovrete arrivare al porto. A piedi è molto faticoso, scendere è fattibile ma risalire no, a meno di un allenamento da marines.

Per cui si può optare per un asinello o per la teleferica ( entrambi costano 5 euro).

Alle 20.30 il sole sparisce dall’orizzonte ed è ora della cena. Abbiamo sperimentato un ristorante nel centro di Fira che si chiama: Stani, ma non ci è piaciuto molto.

E poi arriva un messaggio sul mio telefono, ma questa è un’altra storia.

Another post from paradise. Second day in Santorini.
After a long regenerating sleep  we chose the day’s program.
Beach– where to see the sunset – to have dinner and spend the after dinner, this was my routine on the island.
We opted for one of the black beaches: Perivolos, located in the south of the island.
Compared to the similar Kamari it is more calm and relaxed. Here also I recommend sunbed and umbrella.
Every restaurant along the beach has its own factory with wifi and possibility to eat directly at your location on the sand.
We preferred to sit right at the restaurant, a typical Greek taverna called: To Kaboypakia and experience some local specialties surrounded by the blue.
Complete relaxation under the thatched umbrella, a light wind that do not feel the scorching sun, I never felt hot in Santorini.
To watch the sunset and have dinner, instead, we opted for the Capital: Fira.
I will let the pictures speak because there isn’t a lot of add. Some shots along the caldera and suddenly I hear a rattling; I turn around and here they are the famous donkeys of the island.
After a long day in the sun and heavy work (maybe too much), they are traced back to a well-deserved rest in their “homes”.
But what is their work specifically?
In Santorini all the villages are located at the top of the cliff, so between the port and the city there is a considerable difference in level. In Fira we talk about 250 meters.
If you are on the island you’ll probably want to hike in the caldera, so surely you’ll have to get to the port. Walking is very tiring, down is feasible but not go up ( maybe only if you are a marine).
So you can opt for a donkey or cableway (both cost 5 Euros).
At 20.30 the sun disappears from the horizon and it’s dinner time. We experienced a restaurant in the center of Fira which is called: Stani, but we doesn’t like it very much.
And then comes a message on my phone, but that’s another story.
