Santorini.

Il mio piccolo sogno bianco e blu che si realizza.

In 7 giorni il mio iphone ha segnato circa 10 km percorsi a piedi ogni giorno. 10 km per riempire gli occhi di bellezza.
E’ un’isola che può esser vissuta in tanti modi, ho visto tanti fermarsi a bordo piscina e rimanere lì, e ne ho visti altri zaino in spalla a scalarla.

Diciamo che mi colloco nella categoria di mezzo.

Ma inizio dal principio, sperando che i miei consigli possano tornare utili a chi conserva un sogno bianco e blu nel cassetto.

Partenza all’alba da Roma Fiumicino con Blu-Express e prima sorpresa del viaggio: il volo sarà effettuato con Albastar. Mai visto un areo così antiquato, all’atterraggio ( brusco) si sono addirittura staccati dei pannelli al di sopra delle nostre teste. Ed il volo di ritorno è stato poi effettuato con lo stesso aereo.

Ma la seconda sorpresa della giornata è stata bella: la nostra sistemazione.

Siamo stati molto fortunati, perchè come al solito prenotando all’ultimo è difficile trovare l’alloggio desiderato.

Volevamo qualcosa che fosse tipico ma allo stesso tempo senza rinunciare alle comodità.

Ersi Villas è stata la perfetta combinazione. La nostra camera, la 17 ( neanche a farlo apposta come il nostro anniversario e come molte date che vanno a ripetersi nella nostra vita) era la più  “antica” del complesso.

Come non innamorarsi del letto posto dentro una sorta di nicchia, tipicamente cicladica?!

Ma non ci siamo soffermati troppo o il sonno ci avrebbe catturati. Direzione Kamari, spiaggia nera.

Da Fira, dove si trova la nostra sistemazione, dista circa 10 minuti con il motorino.

Il modo perfetto e più comodo per girare l’isola è proprio quello di noleggiare uno scooter ( minimo 125 cc) ; vivamente sconsigliato il quad per la pericolosità delle strade e per la pendenza delle salite e sconsigliata anche la macchina, i parcheggi scarseggiano e tante strade sono strettissime.

Ma torniamo a Kamari. L’acqua è cristallina e la spiaggia, nonostante l’altissima stagione non è molto affollata.

Assolutamente consiglio di prendere un ombrellone ed un lettino per la giornata. La sabbia, essendo nera, assorbe molto di più le radiazioni solari e diventa rovente, non si può stare neanche sopra l’asciugamano.

I prezzi poi, di noleggio lettino e ombrellone sono proprio modici. Quasi non ci credevo quando ci hanno chiesto soltanto 8 euro totali in 2 per 2 lettini ed un ombrellone ( compreso wifi sulla spiaggia).

Qualche ora sul lungomare, una pita gyros per iniziare ad assaporare i sapori della Grecia e on the road.

Sognavo il tramonto di Oia da quando lo vidi per la prima volta 8 anni fa ed essendo tremendamente impaziente è stata la nostra meta proprio il primo giorno.

Oia è il villaggio tradizionale più bello dell’isola e da qui si può assistere a quello che viene considerato il tramonto più spettacolare al mondo.

Si trova nell’estremo Nord dell’isola e da Fira dista circa 20 minuti con lo scooter; le strade sono a picco sul mare per cui è bene prestare attenzione.

Tra le 19.30 e le 20.30 il sole attraversa l’orizzonte, la magia di quegli attimi è indescrivibile.

Bisogna soltanto aprire gli occhi e gustare quei secondi a più non posso.

Vi consiglio di andare per le 17/18 se volete trovare una buona postazione per ammirarlo. In Agosto le piccole stradine a ridosso della caldera si riempiono tanto da sembrare un concerto.

Lo spettacolo. però, ripagherà decisamente lo sforzo.

Di ritorno da Oia, ci siamo incamminati verso Fira, la capitale. Qui abbiamo gustato alcuni piatti tipici, in una taverna locale proprio nel centro della città: Parea. Assolutamente da provare è la moussaka, una sorta di parmigiana rivisitata, deliziosa!

Un giro tra i vicoli e viste di questa città e gli occhi che iniziano a chiudersi.

Si torna a “casa” sognando le ore dorate sulla caldera, da brava cacciatrice di tramonti.

Questo il nostro primo giorno in paradiso.

In 7 days my iphone marked about 10 km walking routes every day. 10 km to fill the eyes of beauty.
It’s an island that can be lived in so many ways, I saw so many stop by the pool and stay there, and I’ve seen other backpacker climb it.
Let’s say I place myself in the middle category.
But start from the beginning, hoping that my advice will be useful to those who keep a dream white and blue in the drawer.
Starting at dawn from Rome Fiumicino with Blu-Express and here the first surprise of the trip: the flight will be carried out with AlbaStar. Never seen an aero so outdated, at the landing (abrupt) have even detached panels on top of our heads. And the return flight was then made with the same plane.
But the second surprise of the day was beautiful: our accommodation.
We were very lucky, because as usual we booked very late and it is hard to find the desired accommodation.
We wanted something that was typical but at the same time without compromising on comfort.
Ersi Villas was the perfect combination. Our room, the 17 (casually as our anniversary and as many dates that are to be repeated in our lives) was the “oldest” of the complex.
How not to fall in love with the bed placed in a niche, typical Cycladic ?!
But we haven’t focused too much or sleep would capture us. Direction Kamari, one of the black beach.
From Fira, where is our accommodation, is about 10 minutes by scooter.
The perfect and more comfortable way to get around the island is just to rent a scooter (minimum 125 cc); strongly discouraged the quad for the dangerous roads and slope of the climbs and also not recommended the car, parking is difficult and so many roads are narrow.
But back to Kamari. The water is crystal clear and the beach, although the peak season is not very crowded.
Absolutely I recommend taking an umbrella and a sunbed for the day. The sand, being black,  absorbs more solar radiation and gets hot, you can not stand even above the towel.

Prices for rental then, sunbed and umbrella,  are just moderate. Almost I did not believe it when they ask only 8 Euros total in 2 for 2 beds and an umbrella (including wifi on the beach).
A few hours on the seafront, a gyros pita to start to savor the flavors of Greece and on the road.
I dreamed of the sunset in Oia by when I saw him for the first time eight years ago and being so terribly impatient it was our destination the very first day.
Oia is the most beautiful traditional village of the island and from here you can watch what is considered the most spectacular sunset in the world.
It is located in the far north of the island and from Fira is about 20 minutes by scooter; the roads are above the sea so it is good to pay attention.
Between 19.30 and 20.30 the sun crosses the horizon, the magic of those moments is indescribable.
You have just to open your eyes and enjoy those seconds as they could.
I recommend going for the 17/18 if you want to find a good location to admire it. In August, the small streets near the caldera fill it look like a concert.
The show, however, will repay the effort.
Returning from Oia, we walked to Fira, the capital. Here we enjoyed some traditional dishes in a local tavern in the center of the city: Parea. A must try is the moussaka, a kind of Parmesan revisited, delicious!
A tour through the alleys and views of the city and our eyes start to close.
Back to “home” dreaming the golden hours of the caldera, as a good hunter sunsets.
This is our first day in paradise.
